BIGLEN
TO SHOW INDUSTRY "BIG WORTH" IN 2002
Miami,
FL — After finishing 4th in the 2001 NIRA Pro FWD
points chase, 2000 champ Len Monserrat announces Team
BigLen's "staying power" for the 2002 season
and years to come. For the 3rd and 2nd consecutive years,
respectively, Dynamic Turbo and BFGoodrich Tires have
both re-signed with the team.
Juan
Iglesias, the recently hired team publicist, describes
the news as "exemplifying the long-term worthiness of
Monserrat's race program." He adds, "They say repeat
business is a sign of good service. If the saying is
true, then BigLen seems to be on the right track." The
folks at Dynamic Turbo agree. "Len has provided us with
an amazing avenue to reach our customers and we are
anxious for the new season. We get daily phone calls
asking about his [Len's] new car," says Humberto Aubi
- Vice President of Dynamic Turbo — Florida's largest
sport compact performance warehouse. "Len is a talented
racer and a good representative for the sport, says
Todd Steen, motorsports manager for BFGoodrich Tires.
"We're delighted to be part of his program again this
year."
Other
new-coming heavy hitters have joined the team for 2002.
BBS, a well-established pioneer in road racing for over
30 years is making its debut in drag racing. For those
who have not seen the new modular drag wheels, look
for Monserrat's cars to be sporting the BBS marvels
throughout the season. "BBS of America, Inc is proud
to be a technical partner with Len Monserrat and Team
BigLen," says BBS motorsport director Bill Baker.
SPARCO
USA will serve as the official safety gear company for
the team and Sunoco Race Fuels is onboard as the official
fuel. That's not all! An engine deal has been secured,
with yet another well-known entity — JUN engine
components will provide the firepower under the hood
of the team's cars.
"We
are excited to represent these fine brands and we have
high expectations for the season," says crew chief,
Danny Vidal. On acquiring these and future sponsors,
Len has this to say: "The business of racing is marketing...
Most guys may know this, however, they need to offer
their clients — sponsors — a comprehensive
plan to promote their brand. Once on board, you become
a spokesperson for that company; and you need to be
able to step up to the plate."
The
team has been busy in the off-season. Having met the
masterminds from ROOMAN Motorsports at the 2001 SEMA
show and seeing first-hand product of their labor, Monserrat
has hired the chassis-building firm to produce the team's
newest weapon. For those who do not know by now, a 2002
full chassis Eclipse is on the way... Look for the car's
debut later this season, along with several other small
surprises.
Monserrat's
current car has undergone several preparations to take
on the competition early in the season, including another
weight savings plan. Team Biglen will tour the NDRA
& NHRA seasons, as well as, make appearances at select
IDRC events and all the major industry shows (visit
www.biglen.com for a complete schedule). To top it off,
Len Monserrat says he will take pride in spending his
little remaining free time to promote the Racers Against
Street Racing (RASR) program.
